This year, the Helmholtz AI team at Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) organized an engaging Prologue Day on KIT Campus North. The full-day event offered an exciting blend of hands-on satellite activities and the Helmholtz AI Unconference, designed to foster collaboration, spark creativity, and provide unique learning experiences beyond the main conference program.

Participants chose from interactive workshops, tutorials, and guided tours of KIT’s cutting-edge facilities, such as the nuclear reactor, the Energy Lab, a particle accelerator, or the HoreKa supercomputer. The Prologue Day provided the perfect opportunity to explore specific topics of applied AI, connect with the Helmholtz AI community, and kick-start the conference experience in an interactive and collaborative setting. The Prologue Day program is listed below.

Transport, meals & childcare information

We offered transportation from downtown, provided food and coffee throughout the day, and ensured childcare services were available.

The Helmholtz AI Unconference: Break the mold

The Helmholtz AI Unconference, part of the Prologue Day, invited participants to experience the power of dynamic scientific collaboration in a completely unique format. Gone were the rigid agendas, keynote speeches, and pre-set topics of traditional conferences. Instead, participants took the lead, pitched their ideas, started discussions, and solved problems in real time.

Whether they were looking for help with a specific challenge, inspiration for new approaches, wanted to present a tutorial, or sought opportunities to build connections, the Unconference offered endless possibilities. Attendees were encouraged to participate actively, share their expertise, and push the boundaries of science in a fast-paced, collaborative research environment.

Why attend?

The Helmholtz AI Unconference emphasizes creativity, collaboration, and community. It’s an ideal platform to connect with like-minded researchers and turn innovative ideas into actionable solutions.
