BAIOSPHERE is the heart of the Bavarian AI ecosystem. It connects leading players from science, business, and society to form a powerful network for artificial intelligence. The aim is to raise the profile of AI Bavaria both nationally and internationally – as a center for research, application, and responsible development. BAIOSPHERE was created as part of the High-Tech Agenda on the initiative of the Bavarian State Ministry of Science and the Arts, the Bavarian State Ministry of Digital Affairs, and the Bavarian State Ministry of Economic Affairs, Regional Development, and Energy.

BioM has been the network organization for the biotechnology industry in Munich and Bavaria for more than 25 years on behalf of the Bavarian Ministry of Economic Affairs. It supports the Bavarian biotech and pharma industry with an extensive network and provides founders with tailored programs and incubation at MAxL (Munich Accelerator Life Sciences & Medicine). BioM organizes a wide range of trainings, events and network meetings. With its initiative AI4Biotech, BioM creates a targeted ecosystem facilitating AI integration into biotech workflows and concrete innovations. The flagship project DigiMed Bayern – coordinated by BioM – advances P4 Medicine through big data and secure digital infrastructure enabling AI-driven medical research.

Clinical AI Consultants

Medical AI research is growing at an unprecedented pace, with new ideas and algorithms emerging every day. Yet, only a small fraction of these innovations ever reaches real clinical environments, and even fewer prove their value in prospective trials. As an interdisciplinary team combining expertise in medicine, artificial intelligence, and ethics from both academia and industry, our mission is to bridge the gap between cutting-edge AI research and everyday clinical practice. We help transform ideas into deployable solutions that can truly make a difference in patient care.

HIFIS is the digital platform of the Helmholtz Association. It provides and brokers cloud services for everyone in Helmholtz and collaboration partners. It delivers training and support on using those services and more generally on good research software engineering.

We catalyze scientific discovery from sensory measurements to
knowledge.

Images capture the world of science. From nanotechnology to astronomy, and from particle physics to marine biology, images store spatially and temporally resolved information across all scales and research domains. Helmholtz Imaging’s mission is to unlock the potential of imaging in the Helmholtz Association across all research domains and along the entire imaging pipeline, to improve leverage and accessibility of the innovative imaging modalities, applications and data treasures, and to enable the delivery of generalizable imaging solutions. All scientists can contact the platform for direct support for imaging-related inquiries or the connection with other imaging experts from Helmholtz. No imaging challenge is beyond our scope.

Better research through better metadata!

The Helmholtz Metadata Collaboration improves metadata generation, harmonization and scientific use in Helmholtz. Together with data infrastructure providers, scientists and policy makers, we work towards establishing a Helmholtz FAIR data space to allow machine actionable exchange and re-use of scientific data and information assets across the association.

The Helmholtz Information & Data Science Academy (HIDA) is dedicated to the development of information and data science skills of scientists with in the Helmholtz Association and beyond. Together with its partners, HIDA offers a comprehensive range of training opportunities, promotes the exchange of knowledge between researchers through mobility programs and networking events, and supports the Helmholtz Centers in recruiting talent. HIDA also serves as the umbrella organization for the seven HIDS schools, which train doctoral researchers at the interface between data science and the Helmholtz research domains.
